About
My life has been split between the rural wilds of Michigan, the vastness of Oregon and the vibrancy of California. My family is travelers, artists, woodworkers, carvers, musicians and teachers and at an early age I discovered the joy of being a creative thinker. As soon as my little fingers could hold a pencil my father taught me to draw and throughout my youth helped me cultivate an artist's mind. This put me on a trajectory to consume and explore all the art forms life offered. In 2005, I received my B.A. from Albion College with a focus in sculpture, installation and printmaking.
I managed the Bullseye Glass Resource Center Bay Area in Emeryville CA for four years and had the truly fortunate opportunity to work with some of the most exciting contemporary kiln-formed glass artists and technicians from within the company and from around the globe. My work at Bullseye transformed my curiosity of glass into a true love for kiln-formed glass art. I am endless captivated by its vibrant colors and how light moves through and around glass. Even rooted in science and technique, glass work is a form of modern alchemy. Heat, intention, transformation and sometimes a little magic… It's always exciting to open the kiln and see new creations.
In 2021, I started Camille Dot Glass. I am a one woman, multimedia artist, with a small studio tucked in the northern town of Negaunee MI. In my studio I make handmade, one of a kind glass art pieces and large scale installations. I host events, teach classes and love to share my knowledge with my community. I believe in a handmade life and it brings me great joy to offer pieces of my artisanal practice to you.
